Come join us! The more the merrier. The contest is open to the public and free to watch.
What are the divisions?
There will be three competition divisions.
Ladder: Competitors will be tested on a list of increasingly difficult tricks that are based on the “trick cards” used by the Chico Yo-Yo Club. Tricks must be done in order following the cards. Each competitor will have two attempts per trick, with 3 complete misses retiring the competitor from the ladder.
Scoring for the ladder: The highest completed trick will be considered the players score, with points from the first and second attempts used as a tie breaker. 1st attempt = 5 points, 2nd attempt = 3 points, if a trick is not successfully completed on the first or second attempt, 0 points are scored and is considered a ‘complete miss’.
The top 3 competitors will be recognized in each of four age brackets (10and under, 11 & 12, 13 to 16, 17 and over).
1A Freestyles: 1-minute freestyles, music will be supplied, 1A style play only.
Open Freestyles: 1-minute freestyles, music will be supplied, for all non-1A styles of play (or combination of styles).
Freestyles will be judged using the National Yo-Yo League scoring system.
The top 3 competitors will be recognized in the 1A and Open freestyles. All ages compete together, placement is solely based on skill.
