This upcoming weekend, on Saturday, May 15th, join the Chico Yo-Yo Club for the Northern California Yo-Yo Contest.

Starting at 10am at the Chico City Plaza in Downtown Chico, the contest will start with a ladder style competition based on the tricks from the “trick cards” used by the yo-yo club.

After all competitors have completed the ladder competition, a freestyle competition will be held. Freestyle divisions will be separated into 1A and Open (all styles but 1A), with 1-minute performances.

Judges for the event will be National Champion Augie Fash, and National Master Thad Winzenz.

Chico Kite Day 2010

Coming this Sunday, March 28th, 2010, Chico Kite Day will be held at Community Park just of 20th Street from 12 noon to 4pm.

Chico Kite Day is a wonderful way to get outside with friends and family and spend the day together.

All attendees will receive a souvenir courtesy of Bird in Hand – look for the volunteers or come by the tent near the softball fields.

Bird in Hand of course has a great selection of kites that are perfect for getting out and having a great time. From the basic single line delta and diamond kites to advanced two line stunt or sport kites, Bird in Hand can offer a kite to fit your need. Bird in Hand also has a good selection of kite line and kite tails should you have a kite that needs some sprucing up for the day.

One Drop M1

Back in stock! Well, for now anyway.

We were lucky enough to get a small restock of the One Drop Project 2, and One Drop Dingo.

And…very lucky to get a small batch of the One Drop M1 yo-yo. The M1 was discontinued, but the kind folks and One Drop found a few of the M1′s and sent them our way! These are the flow groove M1′s.

Courtesy of our local post office, the SPYY Punchline Yo-Yo has just made it in through the door.

Two color ways:

• Black with orange splash
• Light blue with yellow splash

A totally unique profile that feels great in the hands.

Uses a large bearing for long spins, familiar play, and easy swap out if you prefer a different bearing. Response is accomplished with silicone pads – the groove is deep enough that flowable silicone can be applied if you prefer.
